First Week of School! (August 29-Sept 5)

We got home from work last night and both of us immediately sat and began doing homework. The silence nearly killed me. I realized I had never seen my husband in an academic setting where he has to study and do homework. The reality set in. This was going to be our life for the next 9 months of school. School, work, maybe an hour for dinner, homework, bed. How boring of a life right? But we were getting an education and I knew we'd have plenty of time in the future to be fun and spontaneous right?

This week's dinners had to be easy and cheap because Connor's paycheck didn't go through and rent was coming out. Bad timing and bad business. But what can you do? I did my part to try and make sure we ate pretty inexpensive.

Monday: Hot dog and fire with some friends
Tuesday: Oven Fried chicken (I never ended up making this last week so it was easy to carry over)
Wednesday: Homemade Mac'n'Cheese
Thursday: Parmesan crusted zucchini and chicken
Friday, Saturday, Sunday, Monday: We will be with family over the Labor Day weekend. I am, however in charge of bringing a dessert and although the lazy side of me wants to just get sugar cookies from Macey's, I'm thinking of getting creative. What do you like to bring to family reunions for dessert?

Grocery list:
hot dogs
buns
zucchini
white bread (Connor hates my wheat bread)
corn dogs
spinach
lettuce
apples
bananas
tortillas
chicken breasts
cheese

I bought Kool-aide and chips, not because they were on my list but because they were on sale.

I wish everyone good luck in their classes. And please, if there is a secret you have to surviging homework dates and still having fun in your marriage, clue us in! I'm sure there are others wanting to know.

Yellowstone Trip 2016 // Pt. 1

We had the opportunity this last weekend to go to Yellowstone National Park. Both of us really love camping and we thought it would be a great way to end the summer with a bang. Originally we had friends coming with us to split gas/lodging price etc but they bailed last minute. The campsites were already paid for so we said what the heck and went anyway. *Warning* Long post with lots of pictures.

The Last Week of Summer (August 22-28)

Ever have those days where you just think “Why in the world are we BOTH trying to get an education and work? Who said this was a good idea?” That was me yesterday.

Vacation Week! (August 14-21)

I think I cooked ONE thing from my meal plan last week. It happens.

This week we will be gone from Thursday through Sunday on a VACATION! That means junky food *ahem* no judging and camping goodness. I'll post about all the way to save money on camping food when we get back. So for now, this is what our week looks like

A Date in the Eating

When Connor and I first got married, I made sure we ate every night together. I set the table, made sure the veggies were steamed, and greeted him with a kiss. Minus the pearls and heels, I was a glorious house wife. But then Connor lost his job, I gained a career and our schedules in the summer were anything but consistent. Connor installs floors now and on some nights, like tonight, he doesn't arrive home till 10:30.

No Fail Guac

I love guacamole. (I rarely call it by it's full name) On my mission, a sister from my ward taught me how to make the EASIEST guac in the entire world!
